Solaris has opened a new production hall in Środa Wielkopolska, Poland, expanding its manufacturing capacity as the bus maker prepares for future growth in European and international markets.

The new facility is located in the municipality where Solaris has operated its main welding plant for steel bus and trolleybus frames since 1998.

New Assembly Hall Adds Capacity

The newly commissioned production hall covers more than 7,000 square metres and will be used for the final assembly of city buses.

Until now, final assembly operations were carried out exclusively at the company’s Bolechowo facility near Poznań. Production activities will now take place at both locations.

According to Solaris, the new facility will increase its manufacturing capacity by approximately 500 vehicles per year and support its objective of reaching annual production and sales of 2,000 vehicles.

Employment Impact

The investment has created nearly 300 direct jobs, according to the company.

Solaris said the project is also expected to support additional employment opportunities among suppliers and service providers in the surrounding region.

Vehicle Deliveries

In 2025, Solaris delivered 1,631 vehicles to customers.

The company reported that 86% of deliveries consisted of low- and zero-emission vehicles, including battery-electric buses, hydrogen buses and trolleybuses.

Expansion Plans

Solaris said the expansion supports anticipated demand across existing and new markets.

The company has begun delivering vehicles in North America and is pursuing opportunities in the United States and Canada. It has also announced plans to expand its presence in the intercity bus segment in Europe.

“We are investing in expanding our production capacity and product portfolio to meet the growing demand for sustainable transport in Europe and in new markets,” said Agata Stańda, Chief Executive Officer of Solaris.

Additional Factory Planned

Alongside the opening of the new production hall, Solaris announced plans for another manufacturing facility in the Środa Wielkopolska municipality.

The company has secured 47 hectares of land for the project, which is expected to focus on intercity bus production.

The planned facility is scheduled to become operational in 2029.

Solaris said the investments form part of its long-term strategy to expand production capabilities, broaden its product offering and support future market development.
