Smart has officially introduced its #5 electric SUV to the European market, with prices starting at €45,900 and orders opening on April 26. The vehicle marks the brand’s expansion into the mid-size SUV segment, moving beyond its traditional compact car focus.
The base model, Smart #5 Pro, is priced at €45,900 and features a 76 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a 400-volt system. From the Pro+ variant and higher, the #5 is equipped with a 100 kWh lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NCM) battery and built on an 800-volt platform, enabling rapid charging speeds.

The Pro+ starts at €50,900, while the Premium and Pulse versions begin at €55,400. The Summit Edition, currently the highest-spec model, is available for €56,900. A high-performance version is expected later, but details on its specifications and pricing have yet to be released.
The #5 is built on Geely’s PMA2+ platform, supporting up to 400 kW peak DC charging, allowing the 100 kWh battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. The rear-wheel-drive Pro+ and Premium models produce 267 kW, while the all-wheel-drive Pulse and Summit Edition deliver 432 kW. The base Pro model comes with 250 kW rear-wheel drive. A potential 475 kW variant has been hinted at, but Smart has not confirmed whether this will be the upcoming high-performance edition.

The range varies based on the configuration:
-
#5 Pro (76 kWh, RWD): 465 km (WLTP)
-
#5 Pro+ & Premium (100 kWh, RWD): 590 km (WLTP)
-
#5 Pulse & Summit Edition (100 kWh, AWD): 540 km (WLTP)
The vehicle’s kerb weight ranges from 2,200 kg to 2,370 kg, with a payload of 500 kg (except for the Summit Edition at 475 kg). The maximum towing capacity for all models is 1.6 tonnes. In terms of performance, the rear-wheel-drive models accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.9 to 6.5 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive models achieve it in 4.9 seconds.

Inside, the #5 features a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit display, and a heads-up display as standard. Higher trims include an additional 13-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. The vehicle also comes equipped with advanced driver assistance features, such as motorway lane change assist and traffic jam assist.
“We are proud to launch the Smart #5 as our first-ever mid-size family SUV in Europe, built on an advanced 800-volt platform for superior efficiency and performance,” said Dirk Adelmann, CEO of Smart Europe. “This milestone, coinciding with Smart Europe’s fifth anniversary, showcases our international team’s innovation and engineering expertise.”
