In a strategic move, Smart will be unveiling a more cost-effective version of its electric SUV coupé #3 in the Pro variant, featuring a smaller 49-kWh battery. This adjustment is set to decrease the base price of the Smart #3 in Germany by 5,000 euros, making it 38,490 euros compared to the prior Pro+ base version with a 66-kWh battery, which was priced at 43,490 euros.

The newly introduced Pro variant is already listed on the Smart website at the revised price, with orders expected to be accepted from the end of 2023, and initial deliveries slated for early 2024. Although the new base model has appeared on the Smart UK website, pricing details have not been specified.

The announcement follows Smart’s pricing disclosure for the #3 Pro+ with the 66 kWh battery during the European premiere at the IAA Mobility in Munich in September. Notably, this places the SUV coupé at a 1,000-euro premium over the #1 with a similar battery and equipment.

In a parallel move, Smart had earlier revealed the prices for the #1 Pro version with the smaller 49 kWh battery in mid-October, set at 37,490 euros in Germany, maintaining a consistent 1,000-euro price difference with the #3.

The newly introduced #3 Pro achieves a WLTP range of 325 kilometers with the 49 kWh battery. In comparison, the pricier 66 kWh battery version boasts a range between 435 and 455 kilometers, contingent on the equipment. The #3 Pro aligns with the Pro+ model in terms of drive power (200 kW) and driving performance, including an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

Measuring 4.40 meters in length, the Smart #3 is 13 centimeters longer than the #1. It stands at a height of 1.55 meters, a slight reduction from the #1’s 1.63 meters. The wheelbase of the #3, at 2.785 meters, is marginally longer than that of the #1, further distinguishing the two models beyond their body shapes while retaining a similarity in design and drive technology.
