Smart has officially launched the #6 EHD sedan in China, marking the brand’s largest model to date and its first vehicle equipped with EHD (Electric Hybrid Drive) technology.
The new model, introduced on Thursday, represents a significant expansion for the premium electric mobility brand jointly owned by Mercedes-Benz and Geely. With a focus on long-range efficiency, advanced driver assistance technology and a larger vehicle footprint, the Smart #6 EHD targets China’s increasingly competitive new energy vehicle market.
Three Variants Offered
The Smart #6 EHD is available in three trim levels: 1675 Pro, 1810 Max and 1810 Ultra.
Limited-time promotional pricing starts at 177,900 yuan ($26,250) for the entry-level version, while the mid-range and flagship variants are priced at 197,900 yuan and 217,900 yuan respectively.
Official guide prices range from 179,900 yuan to 229,900 yuan, meaning the launch pricing comes in below the pre-sale figures announced earlier this year.
The aggressive pricing strategy highlights Smart’s efforts to gain market share amid intense competition in China’s rapidly growing new energy vehicle sector.
Largest Smart Model Yet
The #6 EHD measures 4,906 mm long, 1,922 mm wide and 1,508 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,926 mm.
The dimensions place the vehicle firmly within the mid-size sedan category and reflect Smart’s continued shift away from the compact city cars that originally defined the brand.
Designed by Mercedes-Benz’s global design team, the sedan features a sleek hatchback-inspired profile, flush door handles and frameless doors intended to emphasize its premium positioning.
Hybrid Powertrain Delivers Long Range
The Smart #6 EHD combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric drive motor.
The combustion engine generates 120 kW, while the electric motor contributes up to 200 kW. Combined system output reaches 320 kW, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.7 seconds.
Customers can choose between two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs.
The smaller 20-kWh battery delivers a CLTC pure-electric range of 135 kilometers, while the larger 41.46-kWh battery extends electric-only driving capability to 285 kilometers.
With both battery and fuel tank fully charged, the vehicle offers combined driving ranges of up to 1,675 kilometers and 1,810 kilometers respectively.
Fuel consumption is rated at 3.9 liters per 100 kilometers when operating with a depleted battery.
The larger battery can recharge from 30% to 80% in under 15 minutes, while the smaller battery completes the same charging process in less than 20 minutes.
Advanced Driver Assistance and AI Features
Technology is a major focus of the new sedan.
All variants come standard with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and a total of 30 perception devices that support Smart’s advanced driver assistance functions.
The vehicle is equipped with Geely’s Afari Smart Driving system, providing highway navigation assistance, urban navigation without reliance on high-definition maps and automated parking functions.
Inside the cabin, the #6 EHD features a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display and an AMD V2000-powered infotainment system.
The system also integrates ByteDance’s Doubao artificial intelligence voice assistant, providing conversational AI capabilities and enhanced in-car interactions.
Launch Incentives Available
To support the launch, Smart is offering a range of promotional incentives for customers placing orders before July 31.
These include lifetime complimentary access to intelligent driving functions valued at 30,000 yuan, trade-in incentives and zero-down-payment financing options.
The introduction of the #6 EHD signals a major step in Smart’s product strategy, expanding the brand beyond compact EVs and into the growing premium hybrid sedan segment while leveraging technology from both Mercedes-Benz and Geely.
