Spanish electric vehicle maker Silence has opened 14 battery swap stations in Paris, allowing users to replace depleted batteries in about 30 seconds, with plans to expand across the French Riviera before the end of 2025.
The rollout follows trials announced earlier this year by Silence’s parent company, Acciona, in partnership with Nissan. The network mirrors a similar operation in Spain, where Silence runs over 160 swap stations. In France, the initial sites are located in Paris and surrounding metropolitan areas, with future expansion planned for Nice and Cannes.

Silence’s ecosystem supports both two- and four-wheeled EVs using a standard removable trolley-style battery system. Most stations are installed at Esso service locations, while additional points include strategic car parks and Silence’s dealership spaces.
“When purchasing a Silence vehicle without batteries, the cost is reduced by around 30%, without user concerns about technological obsolescence or battery maintenance,” the company said, adding that each subscription covers 12 battery cycles, equivalent to more than 1,500 km of range for its NanoCar S04.

The network introduces a monthly battery subscription model, enabling EV users to avoid the upfront cost of battery ownership while benefiting from rapid battery replacement.
Silence said the initiative is part of its broader strategy to expand EV adoption in France and provide convenient infrastructure for urban electric mobility.
