Dongfeng Nissan has previewed the upcoming NX7 sport utility vehicle (SUV), expanding its N series portfolio as the Nissan Motor joint venture accelerates its electrification strategy in China.
The company released a teaser image confirming that the NX7 will be introduced soon, although technical specifications and a launch date have yet to be announced.
LiDAR Signals Advanced Driver Assistance
The teaser reveals part of the SUV’s front fascia, showing that the NX7 adopts the N series’ signature design language with split headlights, a full-width LED light bar and an illuminated Nissan logo positioned at the centre of the front end.
A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is also visible, indicating that the vehicle will feature advanced driver-assistance capabilities. Based on technologies available in the larger NX8 SUV, the NX7 is expected to support highway navigation-assisted driving, urban navigation-assisted driving and intelligent parking assistance.
Positioned Below the NX8
The model name suggests the NX7 will join the same SUV family as the NX8 while targeting a lower price segment. Industry expectations are that the vehicle could be offered with both battery electric (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains, continuing the dual-powertrain strategy adopted across the N series.
While Dongfeng Nissan has yet to confirm detailed specifications, the NX7 is expected to appeal to buyers seeking a more affordable alternative to the flagship NX8 without sacrificing advanced technology.
Built on an 800V Electrification Platform
The NX8, launched in April, is priced from 159,900 yuan ($23,560) to 209,900 yuan, with a limited-time promotional starting price of 149,900 yuan.
The SUV measures 4,870mm in length, 1,920mm in width and 1,680mm in height, with a 2,917mm wheelbase. It is built on an 800-volt silicon carbide platform and uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL, supporting 5C ultra-fast charging capability.
If the NX7 shares the same platform, it could offer similar fast-charging performance and advanced electrical architecture.
Expanding the N Series Portfolio
The NX7 will become the fourth model in Dongfeng Nissan’s N series, joining the N7 battery-electric sedan, the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan and the NX8 SUV.
Its arrival will give the automaker two electrified models in both the sedan and SUV segments, strengthening its position in China’s highly competitive new energy vehicle market as demand continues to shift toward intelligent, electrified vehicles.
