Indian electric vehicle (EV) charger manufacturer Servotech Power Systems and the Lloyd Institute of Engineering have formalized a partnership to advance training and research initiatives in electric mobility and charging infrastructure. The collaboration includes the establishment of a dedicated research and development (R&D) lab and a Centre of Excellence focused on EV charging technology and infrastructure, to be located at Lloyd’s campus.

As part of this agreement, Servotech has committed to providing job offers or internship opportunities to trainees from the Lloyd Institute of Engineering. Arun Handa, Chief Technical Officer of Servotech Power Systems, highlighted the significance of the R&D center as a potential catalyst for groundbreaking technological advancements in the rapidly evolving field of electric vehicles.

Manohar Thairani, President of Lloyd Institute of Engineering and Technology, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating that it would provide valuable exposure and understanding for students in the EV sector.

In addition to joint efforts in research and training for future EV experts, Servotech will install a 14 kW charging station on Lloyd’s campus. This station is designed to charge two-, three-, and four-wheelers and will be accessible to the institute’s students and faculty free of charge. The facility will also be available to the general public and students from neighboring institutes.

This collaborative initiative underscores the growing emphasis on industry-academia partnerships to address the evolving demands of the electric mobility sector in India. The establishment of a dedicated R&D lab and Centre of Excellence is expected to contribute significantly to advancements in EV charging technology and infrastructure, providing practical exposure and opportunities for students entering this burgeoning field.
