UK-based Aegis Energy has partnered with Estonian platform provider Cloudics to digitally manage its planned network of 30 multi-energy refuelling hubs for commercial vehicles by the end of the decade, the companies said in a joint announcement.
The project, backed by ā¬119 million in funding from global investment manager Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, aims to support the decarbonisation of the UK’s commercial transport sector. Each hub will offer ultra-rapid EV charging along with hydrogen, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and bio-compressed natural gas (bio-CNG) fuelling, and include facilities tailored to long-haul logistics operations.
The first location is scheduled to open in 2026, with five operational sites targeted by 2027.
Aegis will use Cloudicsā modular digital platform as its operational backbone, enabling real-time control of energy flows, dynamic pricing, site monitoring, and integration with external fleet and energy systems. āWeāre delighted to be working with the innovative team at Cloudics to deliver the next generation of technology for commercial vehicle fleets,ā said Eddie Davidson, Head of Technology at Aegis Energy. āTransparency, reliability and simplicity are at the core of enabling the energy transitionāthatās exactly what our partnership with Cloudics is delivering.ā
The cloud-native system also powers Aegisās upcoming mobile app, which will allow drivers to reserve charging slots, make mobile payments, access loyalty programmes, and eventually order food and other conveniences while in transit.
āThis partnership is a testament to how cloud technology can transform the energy retail landscapeāmaking it smarter, faster, and more responsive to change,ā said Gary Szendzielarz, Head of Business Development at Cloudics.
