SAIC-Volkswagen’s high-end electric vehicle brand AUDI has released official images of its upcoming E7X electric sport utility vehicle in China, providing the clearest visual presentation yet of the brand’s second production model designed specifically for the domestic market.

The newly published images show the E7X with a highly unconventional and sculpted exterior design, highlighted by a sharply contoured front fascia, aggressive lighting elements and a wide, muscular stance.

The styling marks a clear departure from Audi’s traditional global design language and reflects the strategy of establishing a distinct visual identity for the capital-letter AUDI marque in China.

The E7X has also appeared in the latest regulatory filing issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), confirming that the model will be offered in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The single-motor variant produces 300 kW, while the dual-motor version combines a 200 kW front motor with a 300 kW rear motor for a total output of 500 kW. The listed top speed ranges from 205 km/h to 230 km/h. The SUV measures 5,049 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width and 1,710 mm in height, with a 3,060 mm wheelbase, positioning it slightly above the E5 Sportback in size. Curb weight ranges from about 2,526 kg to 2,673 kg, depending on configuration.

Battery systems for the E7X use a 109 kWh ternary lithium (NMC) pack supplied by CATL, according to regulatory data. The model is developed and manufactured by SAIC-VW Audi and is widely viewed as the production version of the AUDI E SUV Concept that debuted at the Guangzhou auto show last month.

Audi and SAIC officially launched the AUDI brand as a standalone electric marque in China in November 2024, leveraging SAIC’s local manufacturing, supply chain and software development capabilities. Vehicles under the AUDI nameplate use a stylised letter-based badge rather than the traditional four-ring emblem. The AUDI E7X is scheduled to enter the Chinese market in early 2026.
