SAIC-GM and Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio have inked a partnership deal, enabling more than 10,000 Nio charging terminals to join SAIC-GM’s Ultium charging network in China.

Under this agreement, owners of SAIC-GM’s Cadillac and Buick electric vehicles can access Nio’s charging stations through their mobile apps. The app provides real-time information on the location and pricing of Nio’s charging piles via charging maps.

Nio currently operates 2,204 charging stations in China, comprising a total of 10,056 charging piles, as reported by CnEVPost. Among these stations, 364 are situated in highway service areas. Additionally, Nio’s battery-swapping network spans 2,402 locations, including 790 along highways. The company emphasizes that its network has been open to all from the start, with approximately 80% of the power provided being utilized by non-Nio models.

A similar arrangement was made between SAIC-GM and Tesla in late 2023, allowing Cadillac and Buick drivers access to Tesla’s Supercharger network and destination chargers across China.
