Rivian’s Kneel Mode: Simplifying Entry and Exit for Electric Vehicle Owners

Rivian, a new player in the automotive industry, has introduced a unique feature in its electric vehicles called Kneel Mode. This feature allows for easier entry and exit of the vehicle by lowering its height. Upon activation, which takes just five seconds, the EV will lower to a height of around 10 inches from the ground, making it much easier for passengers to get in and out.

In All-Purpose or Conserve Modes with a standard ride height, the vehicle will drop by as much as 1.4 inches. The lowered position will be maintained until the EV is driven again. With the launch of its Dual-Motor AWD and Enhanced Dual-Motor AWD EVs, Rivian is attracting attention from both established automakers and consumers alike.

Rivian’s Kneel Mode is designed to make getting in and out of the electric vehicles easier by lowering the height of the vehicle. This feature also allows for easier access to the front trunk, bed, or rear cargo area. Drivers should be aware that Kneel Mode is not suitable for Off-Road or Towing modes as it could put the vehicle and its load in danger. The mode should also not be used in Sport Mode as the Rivian already has a low ride height.

To activate Kneel Mode, tap the “Settings” gear icon in the lower Center Display, navigate to the Vehicle and Access screens, and toggle the mode on and off. If desired, the mode can be canceled by pressing the right scroll wheel while in use.

The feature is only available in All-Purpose or Conserve Modes for safety and convenience reasons and requires the 21-inch Road or 22-inch Sport Wheel and Tire sets. If Kneel Mode is not visible, drivers should check if their Rivian EV has the latest software update.
