Rivian build 2,553 electric vehicles in Q1 2022, delivered 1,227

Rivian is optimistic to reach the production target of 25 thousand electric vehicles this year. In its report, Rivian made 2,553 vehicles and delivered 1,227 electric vehicles in the first quarter.

Last year it was 1,015 vehicles and delivered 920 electric vehicles after starting deliveries of the R1T pickup truck towards the end of the third quarter.

Rivian said supply chain issues could cut planned 2022 production in half to 25,000 vehicles.

The company has a production facility in Normal, Illinois that is used to make the R1S, R1T pickup trucks and delivery vans for Amazon.com investors and customers.

The factory has 150,000 electric vehicles per year and Rivian said it will increase this to 200 thousand by 2023 as it adds new vehicles.

Rivian will also open a new production facility in Atlanta by 2024, eventually building 400,000 vehicles per year and also manufacturing battery cells.
