Renault and Nissan in Talks for Synergies in EV Charging Across Europe

French car maker Renault and its partner Nissan are in discussions about a potential collaboration in electric vehicle (EV) charging across 11 European countries, according to Nicolas Schottey, CEO of Renault’s charging unit. The talks have already made progress in France with the development of home charging boxes for Nissan EVs, which will be supplied by Renault’s Mobilize unit.

Schottey confirmed the negotiations during the Autonomy Mobility conference in Paris, where he emphasized that the final decision lies with Nissan. “We are in talks about the 11 countries where we are present…it is up to Nissan to decide,” he stated.

The potential collaboration between Renault and Nissan is significant, given the two automakers’ global reach and their leadership positions in the EV market. As governments worldwide push for the electrification of transportation to meet climate targets, the demand for EVs is expected to grow exponentially.

In this regard, Renault has been actively expanding its charging infrastructure, with a network of more than 300 public charging stations in France alone. Renault and Nissan’s collaboration could significantly enhance the convenience and accessibility of EV charging, making it easier for consumers to switch to electric vehicles.

As Schottey stated, “Electric mobility is on the rise, and we need to work together to ensure it becomes accessible to everyone. We are ready to collaborate with Nissan to make EV charging more convenient and accessible across Europe.”

The potential partnership between Renault and Nissan highlights the importance of collaboration in driving the transition to a sustainable future. As the world moves towards decarbonization, industries must work together to create innovative solutions that enable a more sustainable way of life.
