Tesla’s electric car sales in the Chinese auto market are reported to have nearly tripled in December 2021 compared to the same period the previous year. As of last month, Tesla has sold 70,847 units made in China.

According to a report from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), this is Tesla’s highest monthly car sales record. The record has been since Tesla produced electric cars in Shanghai 2019.

Reuters also reported that Tesla’s car sales in December 2021 included exports of 245 units. This increase is also reported to be almost three times higher than the previous year in the same period.

When compared with the previous month, Tesla’s electric car sales rose by 34 percent. That way, Tesla was able to sell 473,078 units of its products last year.

This increase comes as Tesla’s Shanghai factory is reported to have an average production capacity of around 42,000 units per month. This was stated directly by the managing director of Beijing-based Sino Auto Insights, Tu Le.

Apart from that, Tesla’s factory in Shanghai is rumored to be producing the Model 3 electric sedan and Model Y sports car for the domestic and international markets. Not only for the Chinese market, but this electric vehicle will be sent to Germany and Japan.
