Wallbox has just introduced a line of home chargers called Quasar 2. The product line is the latest generation of two-way home chargers designed specifically for North American consumers.
Quasar 2 inherits the features and functionality of Quasar which was the initial version. Additional features found on the Quasar 2 are two-way in-home charging, CCS compatibility, and a blackout mode.
The blackout mode makes it possible to make an electric vehicle an emergency generator when the power goes out. “Two-way charging opens up many opportunities for smarter energy management at home,” said Enric Asunción, founder and CEO of Wallbox.
Douglas Alfaro, Wallbox’s General Manager for North America points out that the average American will experience more than eight hours of power outage in 2020.
With the blackout mode, electric vehicle owners can use the vehicle to reduce the impact of major energy disturbances at home.
The Quasar 2 is more powerful than the previous model and can provide up to 11.5kW/48Amp of power for charging and discharging. Quasar 2 can connect to the myWallbox app via Wifi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, or 4G.
In the summer of 2021, Wallbox announced it would go public. In April last year, Wallbox announced plans for a production plant in the US.
