Porsche AG has announced a restructuring of its motorsport strategy, shifting its factory efforts toward the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The company will conclude its factory involvement in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) after the current season.
The move reflects Porsche’s focus on two core priorities — advancing electric vehicle (EV) technology through competition and strengthening its presence in the North American market. The brand will continue to field the Porsche 963 in the IMSA series and the Porsche 99X Electric in Formula E, maintaining its pursuit of top-level victories in endurance and electric racing.

“Motorsport has always been part of Porsche’s DNA and a key platform for developing future technologies,” said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. “With the Porsche 963 in the North American IMSA series and the Porsche 99X Electric in the Formula E World Championship, we want to continue to fight for overall victories in the future. That is our tradition and our focus.”
According to Dr. Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Development at Porsche AG, Formula E will remain a crucial testing ground for the company’s high-performance electric vehicles. The arrival of fourth-generation Formula E cars in Season 13 (2026/27) is expected to provide greater flexibility for innovation and performance development.
