Great Wall Motor (GWM) posted modest sales growth in July as record overseas deliveries continued to offset declining demand in its home market.
The Chinese automaker sold 108,067 vehicles during the month, up 3.54% from a year earlier and broadly unchanged from the 108,080 units delivered in June.
Overseas Business Drives Growth
International markets remained GWM’s primary growth engine.
The company sold 62,015 vehicles overseas in July, representing a 50.93% increase from a year earlier and a 3.07% rise from June.
Overseas deliveries accounted for 57.39% of total monthly sales, the second-highest proportion in the company’s history, behind only the 58.79% recorded in February.
From January through July, GWM exported 353,441 vehicles, up 48.04% year on year. Overseas markets accounted for 51.08% of the company’s total sales during the seven-month period.
Domestic Sales Continue to Decline
Sales in China fell to 46,052 vehicles in July, down 27.23% from the same month last year and 3.88% lower than June.
For the first seven months of 2026, domestic deliveries totaled 338,521 vehicles, representing a 22.25% decline compared with the same period a year earlier.
Overall, GWM sold 691,962 vehicles between January and July, up 2.64% year on year.
NEV Sales Stabilize
GWM sold 34,651 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in July, up 0.17% from a year earlier.
The result ended seven consecutive months of year-on-year declines for the company’s electrified vehicle business.
NEVs accounted for 32.06% of GWM’s total July deliveries.
During the first seven months of the year, cumulative NEV sales reached 179,285 units, down 8.06% from the same period in 2025.
Brand Performance Mixed
The Haval brand remained GWM’s largest contributor, delivering 56,272 vehicles in July, broadly unchanged from a year earlier but down 6.66% from June.
Haval sold 383,562 vehicles during the first seven months of 2026, up 1.57% year on year.
Tank delivered 17,228 vehicles in July, down 13.95% from a year earlier but up 9.64% from June.
The off-road brand launched the all-new Tank 300 on July 19 with gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains, starting at 199,800 yuan ($29,430), as it seeks to revive sales.
Premium brand Wey delivered 7,725 vehicles in July, declining 23.10% year on year while rising 7.43% from the previous month.
Wey opened pre-orders for the V8X on July 29, the second model built on GWM’s Global One S platform.
Pickup Business and New Models
GWM’s pickup truck business continued to outperform other segments.
The company sold 16,006 pickups in July, up 16.22% from a year earlier and 14.23% higher than June.
Seven-month pickup sales reached 108,518 units.
Looking ahead, GWM plans to launch the Haval H10 on August 5.
The boxy SUV will become the first model based on the Global One platform and is positioned to strengthen GWM’s presence in China’s family SUV market above the 200,000-yuan price segment.
