Polestar, the Swedish electric car manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new charging service, Polestar Charge, in collaboration with Plugsurfing. This service provides Polestar customers in Europe with access to over 650,000 public charging points, including Tesla Superchargers.

Since 2020, Polestar has been offering its Polestar 2 customers access to the Plugsurfing network, providing them with special discounts. With the imminent deliveries of its two new electric models, the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, in Europe, both companies have decided to introduce a new charging service.

Through Polestar Charge, customers can initiate and pay for charging processes at various public charging points. Of particular note is Polestar’s integration of Tesla’s Supercharger network in Europe into its own charging app, allowing access to all Superchargers that are open to other brands. However, customers must store the charging service as a means of payment in the Tesla app. Additionally, charging points from EnBW, Aral pulse, Ionity, Recharge, Fastned, Total, Allego, and others can be activated using Polestar Charge.

While neither Polestar nor Plugsurfing have disclosed specific prices for AC or DC charging, the app will display these prices for each charging point. Customers can also opt for an optional subscription priced at €13.99 per month, which offers a 30% discount on the standard prices displayed in the Polestar Charge app. This subscription is currently available in several European countries.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, emphasized the importance of convenient charging for electric car owners, stating, “With access to the largest networks in Europe and smart integration in Google Maps, we have made it easy for Polestar drivers to enjoy life with an electric car rather than worrying about where they will find their next charge.”

Polestar’s integration of Tesla’s Supercharger network in Europe marks a significant milestone, making it the first electric car manufacturer in Europe to do so. The two companies also collaborate in China, where authorized Superchargers and Destination Chargers can be located and activated via the Polestar app. Polestar has further announced plans to offer the Tesla charging port (NACS) in its electric cars for the North American market starting in 2025.
