Ovo Energy said it will roll out a new subscription service that combines home and public electric vehicle charging into a single monthly fee, in what the UK power company describes as the country’s first such bundled offer.

The “Charge Anytime” product, available from November 4, will offer two tiers. The Standard plan costs £27.50 per month and includes 700 miles of smart home charging and vouchers equivalent to 600 miles on public chargers, along with insurance against charger damage, theft or vandalism. The Premium plan, priced at £37.50, raises the home allowance to 1,000 miles and adds annual battery health checks, ClearWatt usage insights and a 15% discount on KwikFit tyres, while keeping the same 600-mile public voucher allowance.

Unlike typical energy tariffs that charge per kilowatt-hour, Ovo’s subscription is expressed in miles, which means charging costs will vary depending on vehicle efficiency. Details on the voucher scheme remain limited, though Ovo said access would run through its Charge app, which covers about 50,000 public charging points.

Ovo will also revise its existing pay-as-you-go option for lower-mileage drivers, raising its smart charging rate to 14 pence per kWh from 7p, while adding access to public charging vouchers. “We need to make EVs the easy choice for drivers. This means making them super affordable to run and simple to charge,” said Alex Thwaites, director of EV at Ovo.

The launch places Ovo in direct competition with Octopus Energy, which already offers unlimited home charging through its Intelligent Drive Pack alongside discounts on public charging via its Electroverse network.
