UK charging network operator Osprey Charging has opened a new ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging hub at Twyford Services near Evesham, in what it describes as one of the largest facilities of its kind in the West of England.
The site features 16 high-power chargers supplied by Kempower, each capable of delivering up to 300 kW. According to Osprey, this allows drivers to add around 100 miles (160 km) of range in 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the vehicle.
The charging hub is located near the A46 and A44 highways, key routes connecting the Midlands, South West and Wales. National Highways has previously identified the area as a fast-charging “cold spot,” highlighting the need for improved infrastructure.
Photographs of the site suggest that each charging tower supports two bays, potentially enabling up to 32 vehicles to charge simultaneously, although this capacity has not been officially confirmed. Payment is facilitated through terminals provided by Adyen, supporting Chip & PIN, contactless cards, mobile payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, and fleet cards.
Osprey said the site was developed on land it owns, rather than leases, allowing for a larger, purpose-built design and future expansion.
“Reliable, high-power charging hubs on major UK roads are essential for the transition to electric vehicles,” said Ian Johnston, Chief Executive of Osprey Charging. “Twyford Services is a flagship site for Osprey – a large, purpose-built hub in a location that needed better charging coverage. Because we own the land, we have been able to build a bigger, future-proofed site using our latest technology, giving drivers the confidence they need to travel long distances in an EV. This is exactly the kind of reliable, super-fast infrastructure the UK needs as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow.”
The company said the new hub is part of broader efforts to expand ultra-rapid charging infrastructure across the UK, particularly along major transport corridors.
