Germany’s Stellantis-owned brand Opel has announced plans to broaden its portfolio of fully electric high-performance models under the GSE badge, confirming that a new Corsa GSE will be unveiled soon and available to order later this year.
While technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, Opel said the performance variant will be based on the current generation of the Corsa, which has been Germany’s best-selling small car for five consecutive years. The company indicated the model will feature distinctive sporty styling cues typical of GSE vehicles and deliver strong all-electric performance. A teaser image shows signature black, white and yellow accents, including a yellow brake caliper and GSE branding on the door sill.
The new model is expected to share technology with other high-performance electric vehicles within the Stellantis group. Comparable models—including the Mokka GSE, Peugeot e-208 GTI, Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce and Abarth 600e—use a front-mounted permanent-magnet motor producing around 207 kW and 345 Nm of torque, paired with an NMC battery of roughly 54 kWh gross capacity. Official range figures and any chassis or performance upgrades specific to the Corsa GSE will likely be announced at the vehicle’s premiere.
Opel Chief Executive Florian Huettl described the model as a combination of the brand’s long-standing bestseller and its electrified performance strategy. “Our Opel Corsa is an absolute bestseller. Small, agile and extremely practical, it stands for long-lasting success,” he said. “The three letters ‘GSE’ stand for battery-electric high performance and top dynamics. The new Corsa GSE combines both worlds as the all-electric flagship of our small car range.”
