Austrian oil company OMV and Czech energy utility Prazska Energetika have announced plans to deploy 113 new fast-charging stations at 48 OMV fuel stations across the Czech Republic by 2030. The companies will also expand infrastructure at select Billa supermarkets, aiming to support the country’s growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
The project will be developed under the Pre Point brand, a charging initiative of Prazska Energetika. Each station will feature high-power chargers ranging between 300 and 400 kW and offer a total of 168 CCS charging points. In Prague, four dedicated charging hubs are planned, each equipped with six chargers capable of delivering up to 400 kW.
OMV and Prazska Energetika first partnered in 2020, commissioning their initial Pre Point fast chargers at OMV locations. As of now, there are 185 EV charging points across 46 OMV sites in the Czech Republic, although not all are operated by Pre Point. The newly announced expansion aims to significantly increase both the availability and speed of EV charging nationwide.
“After receiving final regulatory approval, OMV and Prazska Energetika will jointly coordinate investments, site selection, and development planning,” the companies said in a joint statement.
In addition to fuel stations, the collaboration also extends to select Billa supermarket sites, though details remain limited. The initiative supports national and EU-level goals to accelerate e-mobility infrastructure and reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector.
