Ola Electric, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has started delivering its first electric motorcycle, the Roadster, aiming to expand its footprint beyond electric scooters.
The Roadster is available in four main variants, with sales commencing for the Roadster X and X+ models. These variants feature mid-drive motors and a range of battery options, including a high-capacity 9.1 kWh battery using 4680 cells. The Roadster X offers acceleration from 0 to 40 kph in 3.1 seconds and a range of up to 252 kilometers, while the X+ accelerates faster at 2.7 seconds and can travel up to 501 kilometers on a full charge.
Ola Electric incorporates advanced design elements such as industry-first flat cables for improved packaging and thermal management. Both variants include a 4.3-inch LCD display with smart connectivity, USB charging, and safety features including front ABS. The higher-tier Roadster X+ adds a front disc brake, cruise control, and reverse mode for enhanced convenience.
Priced competitively between approximately 100,000 and 200,000 Indian rupees depending on variant and battery size, the Roadster aims to “unlock the true potential” of electric motorcycles in India’s two-wheeler segment. Ola Electric sold over 400,000 electric scooters last year and continues to expand its portfolio, targeting electric three-wheelers alongside further two-wheeler offerings.
