Toyota Motor Corporation introduced the O-Uchi Kyuden System, an energy storage system based on electric vehicle (EV) battery technology for home use.
Quoted from greencarcongress.com, Monday (6/6/2022) the pre-order system has been opened, and sales in Japan will begin in August through home builders and general construction companies.
The O-Uchi Kyuden system uses electric vehicle battery technologies such as Toyota battery control to provide a rated capacity of 8.7 kWh and a rated output of 5.5 kWh.
This system provides electricity supply to the whole house, not only in normal situations even during power outages caused by natural disasters.
In addition, with the support of the photovoltaic system, it can supply the amount of electricity according to customer needs throughout the day.
This system supports power supply from electric vehicles (HEV, PHEV, BEV, FCEV) via a 100V AC outlet, and can use the electricity stored in the electric vehicle battery as a backup power source during a power outage.
Additionally, the future move to IoT uses a wireless LAN router connected to a hybrid power conditioner, allowing storage capacity, operating modes, and other settings to be viewed and set in real-time from a dedicated app on a smartphone or tablet.
