Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) became the first producer to send heavy construction devices made using fossil free steel to customers.
This sustainability step is carried out only nine months after Volvo CE launches the concept of the first vehicle in the world that uses fossil free steel. In the future, the Volvo A30G mining truck will soon be marketed in stages.
President Volvo CE, Melker Jernberg said that the first handover was an important milestone in the Volvo group’s ambitions to encourage industrial transformation to global climate destinations.
“Thanks to our strong partnership with other companies that also have a sustainable mission, we can now lead changes to fossil free construction and be the first to send machines made using fossil free steel to customers,” he said in his official broadcast, Tuesday (7/6/ 2022).
This A30G mining truck has been produced at the Volvo CE bras facility in Sweden, using the manufacturing process with fossil free steel from the SSAB steel company.
