Nissan has confirmed plans to launch its N7 electric sedan in the Philippines under the revived Primera EV nameplate, making the Southeast Asian nation the first international market to receive the China-developed model.

The Japanese automaker showcased the Primera EV at the tenth Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), signaling its intention to expand the N7 beyond China as part of its broader electrification strategy.

The Primera name was previously used on Nissan’s internal combustion engine-powered sedans, liftbacks and estate cars sold globally between the 1990s and early 2000s. The company is now reviving the badge for an all-electric successor.

Launch Planned for Late 2026

Nissan has already begun the regulatory approval process in the Philippines, registering the vehicle with the country’s Department of Energy (DOE).

According to local media reports, the company is targeting a market launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The Philippines is expected to serve as the first overseas destination for the N7, which is currently produced in China through Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng.

Global Expansion Plans

The Philippines is unlikely to be the only international market for the model.

Last year, Nissan filed trademark applications for the Primera name in several markets, including Oman, Bahrain and Malaysia, indicating broader export ambitions.

The company also displayed the N7 at the Japan Mobility Show and announced in April 2026 that its Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture would begin exporting the model to ASEAN and Latin American markets.

Nissan executives have also suggested the vehicle could eventually be introduced in Australia.

Two Battery and Motor Options

In China, the N7 is offered with two front-wheel-drive powertrain configurations.

The entry-level version features a single electric motor producing 160 kW and 305 Nm of torque, paired with a 58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Nissan quotes a CLTC driving range of up to 540 kilometres.

A higher-specification variant uses a 200 kW motor delivering the same 305 Nm of torque and is equipped with a larger 73 kWh LFP battery. This version offers a CLTC range of up to 635 kilometres.

Mid-Size Electric Sedan

The N7 is positioned in the mid-size sedan segment, measuring 4,930 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

Depending on configuration, luggage capacity ranges from 484 litres to 504 litres.

The model represents an important step in Nissan’s strategy to leverage products developed in China for international markets, allowing the automaker to accelerate its EV rollout while expanding its presence in fast-growing regions.

With the Primera EV, Nissan is reviving a familiar nameplate while introducing a modern electric vehicle aimed at competing in an increasingly competitive global EV market.
