In five weeks the ninth season of Formula E electric car racing will begin. Several teams have also begun to reveal the car livery that they will use when the Formula 2023 racing season starts in 2023.

The first three teams to have introduced their car livery for Formula E 2023 were the Nissan, Jaguar and McLaren factory teams on Thursday (1/12/2022) early this morning.

It becomes even more special, because we finally see the Gen3 Formula E car, which is the latest generation of Formula E electric racing car in the official team livery.

First, let’s take a look at the livery of the Nissan team, which for the 2023 Formula E season is still inspired by Japanese culture.

If last year the inspiration came from the Kimono, which is traditional Japanese clothing, now the Nissan team’s livery takes inspiration from Sakura flowers.

With a combination of dark red, black and pink accompanied by the Sakura flower print itself, the Nissan team’s livery is one of the most unique so far for Formula E 2023.

“We want to create something very different and unique this season,” said Tomasso Volpe, General Manager of Nissan Formula E in his official broadcast, Thursday (1/12/2022).

“That is to commemorate important moments for us in Formula E as well as celebrating our Japanese DNA,” said the man who is also the Managing Director of the Nissan Formula E Team.

Nissan will come down with a completely new line-up of drivers, namely Norman Nato and Sacha Fenestraz, who will use the starting numbers 17 and 23 respectively.

Moving on to Jaguar, the team from this famous British car brand also presents a completely new livery for the 2023 Formula E season.

If previously Jaguar was synonymous with a black and cyan color combination, now they use a black and white combination with an asymmetrical design.

The two colors are separated by a golden accent, which makes Jaguar’s livery for Formula E 2023 no less unique than Nissan’s.

“The new design from our team turns this racing car into a work of art,” said James Barclay, Team Principal Jaguar TCS Racing in his official broadcast, Thursday (1/12/2022).

“This design is in line with Jaguar’s vision of modern luxury,” he added.

Still reinforced by the combo of drivers Mitch Evans and Sam Bird, Jaguar is determined to win the World Title after finishing runner-up in the 2022 season.

After Nissan and Jaguar, we finally go to McLaren, which definitely feels very special.

Not from the design, which uses a combination of orange, black and light blue accents that are not much different from their livery in F1. But because it marks the first time that the British/New Zealand crossbreed car brand has participated in a Formula E race.

Mclaren Formula E - Nissan, Jaguar and McLaren launch livery for Formula E 2023

Taking over from Mercedes’ entrant that withdrew this season, McLaren is reinforced by Rene Rast and Jake Hughes in Formula E 2023.

“I believe that Formula E will provide a competitive advantage for McLaren Racing through a deeper understanding of EV racing,” said Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing in his official broadcast, Thursday (1/12/2022).

“All while providing diversity for fans, partners and pushing us further on the path of sustainability,” he added.

Apart from Nissan, Jaguar and McLaren, DS Automobile will also be launching their livery for Formula E 2023. The launch itself will take place on Thursday (1/12/2022) today, although there is no definite time yet.

Formula E 2023 will be the first time DS Automobile has partnered with racing giant from the United States, Penske. Previously, DS Automobile, which is a car manufacturer from France, had partnered with Techeetah since 2016.

Techeetah itself is part of an equity firm from China, namely China Media Capital.
