Nissan has unveiled two China-developed vehicles at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show, marking the first public demonstration of its new “From China” export strategy and signaling a broader shift in how the automaker intends to leverage its Chinese operations for global markets.

The two models, the Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid pickup and the Primera EV sedan, represent the first vehicles developed in China that Nissan plans to introduce internationally under the strategy.

China Becomes Global Export Base

The initiative reflects a significant evolution in Nissan’s global manufacturing and product development approach, positioning China not only as one of the company’s largest vehicle markets but also as a source of globally competitive products for export.

According to Nissan, the strategy is designed to accelerate product development cycles, improve competitiveness, and respond more quickly to changing customer preferences across international markets.

“As a lead market, China plays a dual role for Nissan, both as a strong market in its own right and a critical source of global competitiveness,” said Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer of Nissan.

“This unveiling signals the beginning of our ‘From China’ export strategy, and I am pleased to see these vehicles reaching customers beyond China for the first time.”

Electrified Pickup and Electric Sedan

Among the vehicles revealed was the Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid, which introduces electrification to Nissan’s pickup portfolio. The model combines the company’s established pickup and four-wheel-drive expertise with a plug-in hybrid powertrain aimed at improving efficiency while maintaining utility and off-road capability.

The second model, the Primera EV, is a fully electric sedan designed with a focus on passenger comfort, digital connectivity, and in-cabin technology features.

Nissan has not yet released detailed technical specifications for either vehicle and said further information will be announced closer to their market launches.

Expanding Electrified Portfolio

The automaker also showcased the Kicks e-Power and X-Trail e-Power at the Philippine event.

Both vehicles utilize Nissan’s e-Power technology, a series-hybrid system in which an electric motor drives the wheels while a gasoline engine functions primarily as a generator to supply electricity.

The company continues to position e-Power technology as a bridge between conventional internal combustion vehicles and fully battery-electric models in markets where charging infrastructure remains under development.

Part of Broader Global Strategy

Nissan said the newly unveiled models demonstrate the growing role of its Chinese operations in supporting international growth plans.

“The models demonstrate strong product competitiveness and represent an important step in strengthening our global portfolio and responding more quickly to diverse customer needs,” Cartier said.

“We are excited to bring them to customers in the Philippines as we continue to accelerate this momentum across markets.”

The Philippine debut is expected to be the first of several international introductions as Nissan expands exports of China-developed vehicles to additional global markets.
