Onvo, the sub-brand of Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio, has disclosed energy efficiency and range specifications for its upcoming flagship SUV, the L90, ahead of its official launch expected in the third quarter of 2025.

The L90 will come standard with an 85-kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC-rated range of up to 605 kilometers for the rear-wheel-drive version and 570 kilometers for the all-wheel-drive variant, according to an announcement posted by Onvo on Weibo. Energy consumption is listed at 14.5 kWh and 15.4 kWh per 100 kilometers for the rear- and all-wheel-drive versions, respectively.

The SUV is built on a 900-volt high-voltage architecture and features lightweight construction and a low drag coefficient aimed at improving energy performance. Onvo emphasized that the vehicle benefits from a decade of technological development under Nio and the availability of over 2,000 battery swap stations across China.

A recent catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) listed the L90 with battery capacities of 60.6 kWh and 85.1 kWh, suggesting customers may have flexibility in configuration. The same filing indicated various CLTC ranges from 410 km to 570 km, though powertrain details were not confirmed. A previously reported model number, NAL6513BSEVZ2, is associated with a dual-motor configuration.

Onvo’s approach mirrors Nio’s battery subscription flexibility. While the L90 includes the 85-kWh pack by default, owners may downgrade to a 60-kWh version and receive a subsidy — similar to Nio’s policy allowing users of 100-kWh packs to switch to 75-kWh batteries in exchange for credits.

The L90, first unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show on April 23, features a three-row design with ample storage. The vehicle measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,786 mm in height, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase. The model can accommodate seven 20-inch suitcases in the rear and offers additional space in the front trunk (frunk).

Onvo’s president Shen Fei confirmed last month that the 85-kWh battery will be standard across the L90 lineup. Nio CEO William Li previously announced that Onvo’s next model, the L80, is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter.
