Nio has begun deliveries of its premium compact car brand Firefly in Singapore, following the brand’s official entry into the city-state last month, the company said.

The first batch of right-hand-drive Firefly electric vehicles was formally delivered on Sunday, according to a post by the Nio sub-brand on Weibo. Firefly did not disclose the number of vehicles included in the initial deliveries.

Singapore is the first market to receive the right-hand-drive version of the Firefly EV. The model made its public debut at the Singapore Motorshow 2026 on January 8, when Firefly also began accepting pre-orders. The first local Firefly showroom opened in late January.

In Singapore, Nio is working with Wearnes Automotive, a long-established automotive retailer founded in 1906 that represents multiple premium and luxury vehicle brands. The partnership aligns with Nio’s broader overseas strategy of relying on local distributors rather than pursuing a capital-intensive direct sales model.

Nio has said it plans to continue expanding internationally in 2026 through distributor partnerships, using Firefly as its pioneer brand. The company aims to extend its presence to around 40 countries and regions by the end of the year.

Firefly was officially unveiled at Nio Day 2024 on December 21, positioned to compete with compact premium brands such as Mini and Smart. The brand’s namesake model, the Firefly EV, was launched in China on April 19, 2025.

Nio had initially planned to introduce Firefly in Europe ahead of other overseas markets. However, following the European Union’s decision to impose additional tariffs on Chinese battery electric vehicles, the company adjusted its rollout strategy and launched the model in China first. Firefly has since begun deliveries in Europe with left-hand-drive versions, similar to those sold in the Chinese market.
