Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Nio concluded 2023 on a positive note with a robust rebound in December deliveries. The company reported delivering 18,012 vehicles during the month, marking the third-highest monthly record behind July’s 20,462 and August’s 19,329.
This performance represents a 13.89 percent increase from December 2022, when Nio delivered 15,815 vehicles, and a 12.86 percent rise from November’s figures of 15,959. The breakdown of monthly deliveries reveals 12,048 SUVs and 5,964 sedans.
Nio’s lineup currently includes the ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring, featuring a mix of SUVs and sedans. Notably, the company introduced its executive flagship sedan, the ET9, at Nio Day 2023 on December 23, with pre-sales initiated at a price of RMB 800,000 ($112,700). ET9 deliveries are slated to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
For the fourth quarter of 2023, Nio outperformed its delivery guidance by delivering 50,045 vehicles, surpassing the upper limit of the projected range of 47,000 to 49,000 units. This represented a 24.95 percent year-on-year increase but marked a 9.72 percent decrease from the third quarter. Nio had earlier guided its fourth-quarter revenue to be between RMB 16.08 billion and RMB 16.7 billion, implying a year-on-year growth range of approximately 0.1 percent to 4.0 percent.
The full-year 2023 results revealed that Nio delivered a total of 160,038 vehicles, reflecting a substantial 30.66 percent year-on-year increase. By the conclusion of 2023, Nio achieved a cumulative delivery milestone of 449,594 vehicles since its inception.
