Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio Inc. confident that 2022 will be their year. The CEO, William Bin Li agrees. He is committed to selling electric cars in more countries.
“2022 will be a year of re-acceleration for Nio,” Li said in a statement.
Nio, which just started sales in Norway last September, plans to expand to several other countries and continents. In the first quarter of this year, Nio has delivered up to 26,000 cars in China. This figure is up 30% compared to the same period in 2021. The sales value obtained by Nio in the first quarter is claimed to reach US $ 1.51 billion.
Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter of 2021, Nio has delivered as many as 25,034 electric cars, including their mid-size SUV, the ES6. This figure is up by 2.4% compared to the third quarter of 2021, and up 44% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. Overall, throughout 2021, Nio’s total sales increased by 109% or reached 91,429 units.
Last February, three Nio car lines, namely the ES6, EC6, and ES8 recorded total sales of up to 6,131 units, an increase of 9.9% compared to the same month last year. The NIO ES6 which is a 5 seater SUV is the best-selling car with sales of up to 3,309 units, or up 49% year on year.
Meanwhile, the NIO EC6 experienced a 15% decline in sales yoy with a total of 1,738 units. Then the ES8 line experienced a 18% yoy decline with a total of 1,084 units.
One thing that has become very important for Nio at this time is preparations for the launch of their flagship car series, ET7. Based on the plan, Nio will indeed launch the car this March in China, and towards the end of the year, the car is planned to enter the European market.
As an electric car manufacturer, Nio has made several “achievements” in his country. Among them is building 844 power swap stations where electric car drivers can swap their discharged batteries for fully charged ones. Then the empty battery can be left temporarily to be recharged. Nio provides this facility, there may be a certain fee that must be paid in the swap facility.
In addition, Nio has also established 676 charging stations with a fast charging system that has 3,802 power chargers. Then, Nio also has 55 authorized service centers and 180 authorized support service centers spread throughout China.
With his tenacity and commitment, it is not impossible that Nio will soon dominate the global electric car market, even including Indonesia.
