Nio received more than 3,500 firm orders during China’s Qingming Festival holiday from April 4 to April 6 after rolling out enhanced purchase incentives for its 2024 lineup, according to a report by local media outlet Jiemian. The surge in orders follows the introduction of extended complimentary battery swap services aimed at stimulating demand.
Between April 3 and April 30, customers placing deposits on eligible 2024 modelsâET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, EC6, ET7, EC7, and ES8âcan benefit from an additional five years of free battery swaps, capped at 240 uses.

This latest incentive builds on earlier offers, including five-year zero-interest financing and 48 complimentary battery swaps, which remain available throughout April. Jiemian noted that the updated battery swap policy had a notable impact on sales volumes during the holiday period.
Nio has previously utilized its battery swap service as a sales driver, particularly through its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) initiative. This approach contributed to multiple months with over 20,000 deliveries in 2023. The company’s current product portfolio includes nine Nio-branded models and the L60 under its Onvo sub-brand. Another sub-brand, Firefly, is set to debut its first model on April 19.

Looking ahead, Nio has announced plans to launch new products or facelifted models every quarter from Q2 to Q4 this year. The ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, and EC6 are among the models scheduled for refreshes, with expected changes to exterior styling, interior design, a transition from vertical to horizontal center screens, and integration of the companyâs in-house Shenji autonomous driving chip.
