Nio Inc said it has delivered its 60,000th third-generation ES8 sport utility vehicle, marking a rapid acceleration in deliveries for the model just weeks after surpassing the 50,000-unit milestone.
The Chinese electric vehicle maker confirmed the latest delivery on Sunday via a social media post by Yang Bo, head of user operations, who said the vehicle was handed over in Guangzhou. The company is expected to publish its full January delivery figures later on Sunday.

Nio launched the third-generation ES8 at its annual Nio Day event on Sept. 20, 2025, with deliveries beginning the following day. The large, three-row electric SUV is offered in six- and seven-seat configurations and starts at RMB 406,800 ($58,520), positioning it among the most expensive models in Nio’s lineup and one of the priciest offerings from a domestic Chinese automaker.
The ES8 reached 40,000 cumulative deliveries on Dec. 29, meeting Nio’s full-year target for the model. Early demand had outpaced production capacity, pushing initial customer wait times to as long as 24–26 weeks. As output has ramped up, delivery lead times have shortened to around 11–12 weeks, according to industry monitoring.

The ES8 currently serves as Nio’s flagship SUV, though that status is expected to be short-lived. The automaker is preparing to introduce the higher-end ES9, which is anticipated to debut later this year, potentially at the Beijing auto show in April. Regulatory filings indicate the ES9 will be larger than the ES8 and may incorporate advanced technologies shared with Nio’s premium ET9 sedan, including an intelligent chassis system and in-house autonomous driving chips.
The steady delivery pace of the ES8 highlights Nio’s continued focus on the upper end of China’s electric vehicle market, even as competition intensifies and consumer demand shows signs of volatility at the start of the year.
