Nikola Motor built 50 Tre BEV trucks in Q2 and delivered 48 of them to dealers. Nikola targets their electric truck production to be significantly increased by the end of the year.
Of note, the Nikola Tre BEV electric truck only started at the end of March. Therefore, the company is optimistic that it can increase its output because it is still in the early stages of production.
In its annual report, Nikola targets to produce a total of 300 to 500 Tre BEV electric trucks by the end of 2022.
Nikola will increase output at Coolidge to five units per shift in November to meet that target. On the other hand, the second phase of plant expansion is underway and is expected to be completed in early 2023.
From his vehicle portfolio, Nikola has also started building a beta version of the Tre FCEV at Coolidge. Together with Iveco, Nikola also built the first alpha version of the Tre BEV for the European market. Production of the Tre BEV alpha will begin in the second half of 2023.
The joint venture between Nikola and Iveco has also built the first beta version of the Tre FCEV for the European market with production set to begin in the first half of 2024.
Previously, Nikola had signed an agreement for the acquisition of US battery maker Romeo Power.
