The successor to the electric-driven Volvo XC90 will likely be called the Embla. Embla is the first woman in Norse mythology. A hint from Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson has now led to a potential name for the Volvo XC90.

Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson revealed in an interview that the name of the successor model to the electric XC90 will start with a vowel.

As Carbuzz reports, an internet search of brand registration found that the Embla name was protected by Volvo in October. The name is allegedly the first brand name registered by Volvo with a vowel at the start in four years.

The successor to the Volvo XC90 will be launched in 2022 and will be built at the Ridgeville plant in South Carolina. It was also revealed that the XC90 will be Volvo’s first on an all-electric platform.

Volvo launched the ‘Concept Recharge’ last summer. This is expected to provide a preview of their product design line-up.
