NEXEN TIRE has secured its first original equipment (OE) supply agreement with Chinese automaker BYD, marking a new partnership between the two companies as BYD continues expanding its presence in international markets.

Under the agreement, NEXEN TIRE will supply tires for the BYD SEAL 6 and Dolphin Surf models destined for export markets in Australia and Europe.

The deal represents NEXEN’s first OE supply program with BYD and expands the tire manufacturer’s involvement in the growing electric vehicle segment.

Tires Selected for Export Models

For the BYD SEAL 6, NEXEN will provide its N’FERA Sport ultra-high-performance summer tire.

The tire will be fitted to vehicles exported to Australia and other international markets, where the model forms part of BYD’s global expansion strategy.

Meanwhile, BYD Dolphin Surf vehicles bound for Europe will be equipped with NEXEN’s N’Blue S summer tire, which is designed to improve efficiency through lower rolling resistance.

Focus on Efficiency and Performance

According to NEXEN, the N’FERA Sport was developed to deliver high-speed stability, handling performance, and driving control across a variety of road conditions.

The N’Blue S has been designed to support efficiency requirements while also providing wet-weather performance and braking capability.

The company said the tire was developed to help meet increasingly stringent efficiency and emissions standards in the European market.

Expanding Presence in the EV Sector

The agreement adds BYD to NEXEN’s portfolio of automotive customers and further strengthens the company’s position in the electric vehicle supply chain.

NEXEN began supplying OE tires to international automakers in 2012 and has since expanded its presence across a range of global vehicle manufacturers.

The company supplies tires for passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, and electric vehicles across multiple regions.

Growing International Partnerships

As BYD increases vehicle exports to overseas markets, suppliers are seeking opportunities to support the automaker’s expanding product lineup.

The latest agreement highlights the growing role of tire manufacturers in developing products tailored to the performance, efficiency, and weight requirements of modern electric vehicles.

NEXEN said it expects the partnership to support future collaboration opportunities as both companies continue expanding their global automotive operations.
