Nevo, a sub-brand of Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625), has introduced the E07, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) designed to convert into a pickup truck. This launch aims to provide an alternative for consumers seeking electric pickup trucks in light of stringent regulations in China’s pickup segment.

The E07, Nevo’s second SUV following the Q05, debuted at a launch event yesterday. It is available in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) configurations. One of the key features of the E07 is its transformability, which enhances its load capacity by allowing it to switch between SUV and pickup forms.

In China, pickup trucks are classified as light trucks and face numerous restrictions compared to passenger car categories such as sedans, SUVs, and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs). Currently, only a select few Chinese manufacturers, including Great Wall Motor, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), Geely, and Changan, produce pickup truck models.

The Nevo E07 BEV is offered in four versions with starting prices ranging from RMB 199,900 ($28,080) to RMB 319,900. The EREV variant is available in three configurations, starting at RMB 209,900 and going up to RMB 299,900. The E07 measures 5,045 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,695 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm.

For performance, the single-motor E07 EV offers rear motor options with power outputs of 165 kW and 252 kW, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and 6.7 seconds, respectively. The dual-motor version, with a total power output of 188 kW and 252 kW, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.96 seconds.

The E07 provides two battery choices: a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with 70.54 kWh capacity, offering a CLTC range of 551 kilometers, and a lithium ternary battery with 89.98 kWh capacity, providing a CLTC range of 651 kilometers.

The EREV variants include both single and dual motor options, with the single-motor variant featuring a rear motor with 231 kW, and the dual-motor variant adding a front motor with 131 kW. The EREV models also come equipped with a 1.5-liter displacement engine acting as a range extender, delivering a maximum power of 110 kW. The single-motor EREV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds, while the dual-motor variant achieves this in 5.15 seconds.

The hybrid version of the E07 is standard with a 39.05 kWh LFP battery, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 230 kilometers and a combined range of 1,130 kilometers when fully fueled and charged.

The Nevo E07 is equipped with Changan’s advanced intelligent driver assistance system, with the two higher-priced BEV variants featuring dual Nvidia Orin X chips and two LiDAR systems.
