Neta Auto has set its sights on the burgeoning Indonesian EV market. The company made a prominent appearance at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, held on August 10, where it introduced its flagship sedan, the Neta S, along with two compact SUVs, the Neta U-II and Neta V.
With its eyes on potential customers in Indonesia, Neta offered attendees the opportunity to reserve their preferred models during the event. The company has revealed that official sales are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of this year, as stated in their recent press release.
Neta Auto’s expansion into Indonesia marks a significant milestone as it extends its presence across Southeast Asia. Having already established itself in ASEAN countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Brunei, Neta is now venturing into Indonesia, drawn by the country’s promising EV market.

Wang Chengjie, Assistant President and Vice President of the Overseas Business Unit at Neta, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to cater to the evolving mobility needs of Indonesian consumers with its range of smart EVs. The decision to enter the Indonesian market is underpinned by Neta’s conviction that it can meet the unique demands of local customers while contributing to the country’s transition towards sustainable transportation solutions.
Neta’s engagement with the Indonesian EV market goes beyond sales. The company has ambitious plans to establish local manufacturing capabilities within the country. In a recent development, Neta signed a memorandum of cooperation with its Indonesian partner, PT Handal Indonesia Motor, setting the stage for localized production of Neta’s EVs. This collaborative effort is projected to commence in the second quarter of 2024.
The company’s journey into the overseas EV market dates back to September 2021, when Neta announced its intention to tap into the ASEAN region. Subsequently, in August 2022, Neta launched the right-hand drive version of its Neta V model in Thailand, solidifying its presence in the region.

Taking a step further, Neta laid the foundation stone for its manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 10 of this year. This facility is envisioned as the central hub for producing right-hand drive EVs destined for export to ASEAN markets. With a projected annual capacity of 20,000 units, the plant is anticipated to commence production by January 2024.
Recent achievements underscore Neta’s growing influence. On March 21, the company achieved a significant milestone by exporting 3,600 units of the Neta V to Thailand, representing the largest single export volume among China’s emerging automotive manufacturers. In the first half of this year, Neta successfully exported nearly 8,000 vehicles, and notably, the Neta V secured its place as the top-selling pure electric vehicle in Thailand during June.
