Supply chain constraints made Volvo Cars’ June sales of 49,904 units, down 26.9 percent compared to the same month last year. However, demand for the company’s cars remains strong, especially for the Recharge electric vehicle line.
From January to June, Volvo Cars sold 291,301 cars, down 23.5 percent over the same period last year. The electric car line accounted for 7.6 percent of total sales from January to June, a more than threefold increase over the same period last year.
32.3 percent of Volvo cars sold during the first half of 2022 were electric or plug-in hybrid (Rechargeable).
In June sales of Volvo Cars reached 16,039 in Europe. The number was down 44.1 percent compared to the same month last year. Recharge car sales accounted for 33.8 percent of total sales in Europe during the month of June.
Sales of Volvo Cars in the US totaled 8,434 units in June, down 31.2 percent compared to the same period last year, with the Recharge model accounting for 25.1 percent of total sales.
Meanwhile China’s sales fell 1.3 percent in June to 16,468 cars compared with the same month last year.
