Mullen Automotive has just launched the New I-GO, which is basically a tiny Chinese-made EV that takes on some of the semblance of a Smart ForFour design.

According to the manufacturer, they have secured exclusive sales, distribution and brand rights for the I-Go model, which is fully homologated and certified for sale in select European markets.

Mullen didn’t say much about the “background” of this car, but noted that they wanted to seize the opportunity to expand the brand’s reach and marketing to Europe.

The Mullen I-GO is equipped with a 16.5 kWh battery pack that provides a range of approximately 124 miles (200 km) based on European Driving Cycle records. The battery powers a 46 hp (34 kW/46 PS) electric motor, which allows the mini-EV to reach a top speed of 62 mph (100 km/h).

The Mullen I-GO is scheduled to be offered in Spain, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK. The first model is scheduled to arrive in Germany this December, and will start at $11,999 plus VAT and local transportation costs.

At current exchange rates, the EV will retail at a starting price of £10,628 in the UK and around €12,154 in EU countries.

In a statement, Mullen’s CEO, David Michery, said, “By securing exclusive sales, distribution and brand rights in major European countries for a market-ready electric commercial vehicle, this is a major win.”

“Mullen plans to license his rights to establish dealerships in this desired European market,” concluded Michery.
