U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer Mullen Automotive has announced new orders for its Class 1 commercial EV cargo van, the Mullen One, from two prominent universities in California. This follows earlier deliveries to universities on the East Coast, signaling growing demand for clean mobility solutions on college campuses across the nation.

The latest orders were placed by universities in Los Angeles and Berkeley, though Mullen did not disclose the exact number of vehicles ordered or specific delivery timelines. The company noted that these orders will be fulfilled through its commercial retail partners, National Fleet Auto Group and Randy Marion Automotive Group.

David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the company’s presence in higher education. “We are thrilled to see leading universities in California, New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina choose Mullen for their fleet EVs, which further establishes our position in the higher education market,” Michery said. “We are confident that our commercial EVs will enhance campus operations and contribute significantly to the overall sustainability goals of these institutions.”

Mullen previously delivered its electric cargo vans to institutions such as Princeton University in New Jersey, the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. The company’s focus on providing sustainable transportation aligns with increasing efforts by universities to reduce their carbon footprints through electrification of campus fleets.

The orders highlight the growing role of clean mobility in addressing operational and sustainability challenges for educational institutions, bolstering Mullen’s reputation as a key player in the commercial EV market.
