Renault’s Mobilize division has introduced the production versions of its Duo and Bento models, ahead of their official debut at the Paris Motor Show.
The Duo, a successor to the Renault Twizy, will launch in France on October 14, with prices beginning at €9,990 for the L6 version, which is limited to a top speed of 45 kph. A higher-performance L7 version, capable of reaching speeds up to 80 kph, will start at €11,600, according to reports by Autocar.
The Bento, a commercial version of the Duo equipped with a storage box instead of a second seat, will be available later, though its pricing has not yet been announced.
Both vehicles share similar dimensions, with the Duo measuring 2.43 metres in length, and the Bento extending to 2.54 metres due to its larger cargo space.
Powered by a 48-volt electric motor derived from the Renault Austral’s hybrid system, both models use NMC battery cells with a capacity of 10.3 kWh.
The Duo offers a range of up to 161 kilometres under WLTP conditions, while the Bento can travel up to 149 kilometres on a single charge. Mobilize noted, “The range will be well in excess of 100 km for most drivers, even in winter.”
Charging options include a standard household plug, which allows the vehicle to add 25 kilometres of range in just one hour. A Type 2 plug is available for faster public AC station charging, cutting charging times by approximately 25 minutes.
In terms of design, the Duo and Bento feature sustainable materials, with 60% of key body parts made from recycled polymers. “For young apprentices or students far from public transportation, Duo is a true tool of independence,” said Benjamin Manceau, Product Manager for Mobilize Duo & Bento.
