The Renault Duo is a version of last year’s EZ-1 concept car, as well as a successor to the Twizy model. While the Bento is an electric car that focuses on cargo for professional customers.
This micro electric vehicle made its debut at the Paris Motor Show, rivaling the Citroen Ami and My Ami Cargo. In terms of design, the Mobilize Duo looks like an evolution of the Renault Twizy with the same proportions, namely sleek LED headlights, prominent bumpers and scissor doors.
Although designed like the EZ-1, the appearance of this Duo looks fresher and newer. Renault Group designers were inspired by the world of video games, adding an ’80s and ’90s feel to the micro car.
The electric vehicle has a tubular frame and features unpainted plastic body panels. The duo has a small footprint, measuring 2.43 m long, 1.30 m wide and 1.46 m high which makes it slightly longer and wider. Meanwhile, the Bento is slightly longer and taller due to the addition of a cargo box.
Inside is a boombox-style dashboard with a small digital instrument cluster, integrated speakers, USB-C slot and smartphone dock. Unlike the Twizy, the cabin of this new car is completely enclosed with a large glass surface on the doors, while the front steering wheel has airbags.
The Duo has two seats arranged in a 1+1 layout, while the Bento is a single seater with a 700 liter cargo box at the rear. Both versions have two storage compartments on the sides of the front seats, while the seat upholstery is made of TEP making it durable and easy to clean.
This Duo model has an engine with a top speed of 45 km/h for those without a driver’s license. While you can reach a top speed of 80 km / h if you are an adult. However, until now Mobilize has not revealed the battery capacity.
This type of electric car will be launched by the end of 2023, while the Bento will be available to professional customers on a long-term lease from 2024. Users will have access to Renault’s after-sales network for service.
Mobilize hasn’t revealed how much the two electric vehicles will cost. But they do offer flexible subscriptions with monthly payments for only three months.
