MG Motor is set to introduce the MGS5 EV in the UK in April, with a wider European rollout scheduled for the second quarter of 2025. The electric compact SUV, which succeeds the ZS EV, features increased dimensions, improved battery capacity, and upgraded technology.

The MGS5 EV measures 4.48 meters in length, making it around 15 centimeters longer than its predecessor. It also has a wheelbase of 2.73 meters, offering a more spacious cabin. The vehicle is three centimeters wider but slightly lower than the outgoing ZS EV.

MG has confirmed battery options for the European market, with a standard 49 kWh battery providing a WLTP range of 340 kilometers. The long-range variants, equipped with a 64 kWh battery, offer up to 480 kilometers on a single charge. Fast-charging capabilities allow the smaller battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes, while the larger battery takes 28 minutes.

“The MGS5 EV is an advanced, enjoyable, and refined EV,” said David Allison, Head of Product and Planning at MG Motor UK. “MG’s advanced and dedicated EV platform has been further enhanced to create a truly spacious, practical, and elegant cabin experience for this all-new MG SUV.”

Powertrain options include a 125 kW motor for the base model, while the long-range versions feature a 170 kW motor, enabling a 0-100 kph acceleration time of 6.3 seconds. The top speed for all variants is limited to 163 kph.

Inside, the MGS5 EV features a centrally positioned 12.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. MG has also retained physical buttons for key functions, responding to customer demand for easy access to controls. The vehicle is equipped with MG Pilot, a suite of driver assistance features including active emergency braking and blind spot detection.
