SAIC’s subsidiary, MG Motor will launch the MG4 electric SUV in the European automotive market in the fourth quarter of 2022 after previously this electric SUV first made its way to China under the name MG Mulan.
Unlike electric vehicles in general, MG said this sports-style electric SUV will be equipped with a large power electric battery with a capacity of 64 kWh and can be driven up to 450 kilometers.
Although MG has not confirmed what type of charging it will use, it is predicted that MG will embed One Pack batteries in MG4 production.
This is reinforced by a statement from MG which states that it has added an eleven centimeter high battery that has a new cooling system as well as a thermal runaway protector, which can support BaaS (Battery as a Service) battery exchange.
“Under this design concept can meet the energy needs of class A0 to D models, giving users flexible and diverse choices. Users can buy a small battery first, then replace and upgrade when a longer battery is needed.” said Zhu Jun, Deputy Chief Engineer of SAIC Motor.
The MG4 Electric also has a 400V electrical system, which could be increased to 800V in the future.
In this way, MG can present SUV vehicles with high-power batteries.
Uniquely, MG also adds a digital instrument cluster feature and a touchscreen infotainment system via a tablet placed in the center of the dashboard, which is more interesting, the MG4 Electric can support over-the-air (OTA) updates that can connect the vehicle with the user’s smartphone.
Through this technology, users can easily detect damage that occurs to the vehicle.
MG4 Electric is also equipped with Pixel Point Cloud Comprehensive Environment Mapping which can support drivers to run autonomous features.
