Mercedes-Benz will unveil the all-electric version of its best-selling GLC SUV at the IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich, positioning the model as a cornerstone of its transition to electric vehicles.

The GLC Electric, displayed in hall B3 at the event, will be the first model to use Mercedes’ new MB.EA platform, designed specifically for electric cars rather than adapted from internal combustion models. The platform underpins what Mercedes describes as a “new face of the brand,” with a focus on consistent design language across its future lineup.

Equipped with an 800-volt architecture and silicon carbide inverters, the GLC Electric supports ultra-fast DC charging at up to 320 kW. A 10-minute charging session can restore about 160 miles of range.

The vehicle carries a 94.5 kWh battery pack and offers expanded practicality, with 20.1 cubic feet of trunk space, up to 61.4 cubic feet with the seats folded, and a 4.5 cubic foot front trunk.

The wheelbase has grown by 3.1 inches to create additional cabin space, and buyers will be able to opt for Airmatic air suspension and rear-axle steering.

Performance options include a 340-horsepower rear-wheel-drive variant and a 489-horsepower 4MATIC version, with an AMG model exceeding 550 horsepower in development. The SUV also has a towing capacity of up to 5,291 pounds.

The GLC is one of Mercedes’ top-selling vehicles, and the electric version is expected to play a central role in expanding EV sales from 2026 onward. First deliveries are scheduled for early that year.
