Mercedes-Benz Trucks plans to set an unconventional world record with its battery-electric eActros 600 by reversing over 100 kilometres without interruption, surpassing the existing Guinness World Record of 89 kilometres set by a diesel truck in the United States.
The German truckmaker announced on Friday that the record attempt will take place on June 4 in Oschersleben, Saxony-Anhalt. The event will also serve as a platform to promote road safety awareness and raise the profile of truck driving as a profession, in partnership with the associations Blicki e.V. and PROFI – Pro Fahrer-Image e.V.

“As a passionate truck driver, it is an honor for me to try to set this record again,” said Marco Hellgrewe, the eActros 600 driver leading the attempt. “A lot has happened in terms of technology since my first record-breaking drive – and to date no one in the world has taken this record with an electric truck.”
The eActros 600 is Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ flagship electric model for long-haul operations. The company says the upcoming attempt will not only showcase the technical capabilities of the electric truck but also emphasize the evolving role of commercial EVs in logistics.
Dirk Hendler, Managing Director of Blicki e.V., said: “This project is a great opportunity to raise awareness of road safety among children and families. We are excited to be part of this and spread our message in this way.”

Electric vehicles have been increasingly making headlines for breaking Guinness World Records. In recent years, Verge Motorcycles achieved the longest ride on a single charge, the Iveco eDaily set a towing record of around 153 tonnes, and Geely’s Zeekr 001 earned records for the fastest drift and slalom by an electric car.
