MAN Truck & Bus is experiencing a significant surge in demand for its eTrucks, with almost 2,000 order inquiries and orders for the new MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS models recorded around seven months after the start of sales. Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions, expressed enthusiasm at the IAA Commercial Vehicles pre-press conference in Frankfurt am Main, stating, “We are continuing to gain momentum when it comes to electromobility. Our eTruck is very well received by our customers. The start of sales has exceeded our expectations.”

This momentum has been further accelerated by the recent expansion of the eTruck portfolio, which now offers more than a million possible configurations. Baumann noted, “Since we presented the expanded portfolio at IFAT fair, customer demand has increased significantly, particularly in the municipal sector.”

MAN has recently secured two tenders for electrically powered trucks in Austria, winning orders from an association of twelve municipal companies. This agreement is expected to result in an order potential of ten to 15 MAN eTrucks per year over the next four years, with orders already placed for the first five eTrucks, including garbage collection vehicles.

The first special series of eTrucks, scheduled for production this year, is almost sold out, with the majority of order inquiries and orders now focused on vehicles slated for large-scale production at the MAN plant in Munich starting in 2025. To facilitate this transition, the company will conduct final conversion work at its main production site this summer to “electrify” the plant.

In a significant development, MAN has received its largest single order to date from France, with Jacky Perrenot, the country’s leading supermarket freight forwarder, ordering 100 eTrucks. MAN anticipates rapid growth in e-mobility and expects that half of all new MAN trucks delivered in Europe will be electrically powered by 2030.
