MAN Truck & Bus has delivered the first two high-power charging stations for a new electric commercial vehicle charging park at Munich’s Allianz Arena, marking the initial phase of a site designed to support large-scale electric truck and bus operations.
The two chargers are Milence-branded 400 kW DC hyperchargers supplied by Alpitronic. MAN said the installation represents the first step in a multi-stage rollout, with the completed charging hub expected to accommodate up to 500 electric trucks and buses per day at the stadium’s bus parking area.
The handover took place during the annual tour of MAN’s Christmas truck, which appeared in electric form for the first time this year. Former Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro accepted the chargers on behalf of FC Bayern Munich.
MAN said the Allianz Arena location was selected due to favourable conditions for high-capacity charging infrastructure, including a strong grid connection, access to renewable electricity and proximity to the Munich North motorway interchange. Outside match days, the site offers sufficient space for commercial vehicle charging operations.
Once operational, the charging park is expected to support long-distance freight transport and also supply energy for FC Bayern Munich’s first all-electric team coach, MAN said.
The symbolic delivery also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the MAN Christmas truck. This year’s version is based on the MAN eTGX, equipped with six battery packs and offering a range of up to 570 kilometres. MAN board members and employees are scheduled to drive the electric truck to kindergartens, schools, social institutions and MAN sites across Germany through the end of December.
